On 25 June 2026, our Project was accepted for examination by the Planning Inspectorate as part of the Development Consent Order process. This is an important milestone for the Project and means the Planning Inspectorate has confirmed that our DCO application meets the required standards to proceed to the next stage of the planning process.
Ben Ring, Managing Director for Capital Projects, said: “This is an important step forward for the Project, which will play a vital role in securing water for our customers and protecting the environment.
“While this is not the final decision, it reflects the significant amount of work that has gone into developing a robust and deliverable proposal.”
The application will now be subject to a detailed and independent examination, during which stakeholders and local communities will have the opportunity to have their say by registering with the Planning Inspectorate to become an Interested Party. A final decision on the Project will be made by the Secretary of State following the examination.
